Our Senior Instructor: Shodai Sensei Richard Faustini

Sensei Richard Faustini has been actively involved in the martial arts for 40 yrs and has been teaching the martial arts for the last 34 years. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Education at Jersey City State College and was a teacher for the Bergen County Special Services School District for 10 years and was very instrumental in the development of their Behavior Management Curriculum.

Sensei Faustini’s diverse background and experience comes from his many years of continuous training in the arts of TaeKwonDo, Karate, Kickboxing, Judo and various systems of traditional and nontraditional Jui-Jitsu. Sensei Faustini also spent time studying Wing Chun and the Philippino Arts. Through his training, constant research and hands-on experience, Sensei Faustini took the most realistic, practical and street proven concepts from each are and created the Americanized Tactical Self-Defense System of HeihoShinDo in 1990.

Sensei Faustini has numerous awards and certifications. He was inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame (1994) as well as the International Martial arts Hall of Fame (1988). He received the Humanitarian Award for his outstanding commitment, dedication and leadership to the martial arts also in 1994. He has appeared in numerous magazines, newspapers, and is used by many public school districts as a motivational and inspirational speaker for kids of all ages.

During this time period, Sensei Faustini was an international renowned bodyguard for State of the Art Security Agency® providing elite personal protection for the “who’s who” in the celebrity world. He was a Team Leader for the Agency and has provided protection for the Grammy Awards Celebrity clientele, Music Cares Award Stars and FOX TV Executives and News Personnel. Not only was he a top agent for the State of the Art Security but also one of the top bodyguard trainers for them as well. He was selected to be on the training team that certified bodyguards for the famous basketball player ‘Kevin Garnett’ and music’s industry legend ‘Prince’, just to name a few. As FIMA began to grow Sensei Faustini needed to devote more of his time to his students and clients.

Sensei Faustini is also an International CDT® (Compliance, Direction, Takedown) and an LRT™ (Last Resort Tactics) Defensive Tactics Instructor for governmental agents and special operatives from the U.S. Marshals, FBI, CIA, DEA and numerous Law Enforcement Agencies throughout the world including Canada, Peru, United Kingdom and Australia.
