This Month's Theme:
Black Belt Perseverance

We begin this month by looking at the importance of Black Belt Perseverance. How many times have we given up when something seemed too hard and much too difficult to accomplish, only to regret later that if we had persisted, we would have succeeded. It is important to live life with persistence and with as few regrets as possible. Therefore, we must choose to endure life’s challenges and persevere toward our dreams. In the long run, we will be happier for it.

Should we as martial artists persevere toward the goal of becoming a black belt? Should it really be the goal of every martial arts student? You bet! Some martial arts students will advance quickly—with what seems to be of little effort—towards their black belt. While others, will take longer and face many challenges along the way. But in the end, they will all reach their ultimate goal.

What is important to remember is that every martial arts student must continually persevere in their desire to be the best they can be. Their achievement of black belt status will not only give them a sense of pride in their martial arts training, but will also influence every aspect of their lives outside the Dojo.

Our personal success depends on only one person...us! Whether we succeed or not is up to us, and we are responsible for our own successes and happiness. Furthermore, we must have an absolute clear picture of what we want before we can achieve it.

Finally, Black Belt Perseverance teaches us to never give up despite what obstacles might come our way. Character is built upon overcoming these obstacles and the barriers of disappointments we face in our lives. Create a mind-set that focuses on success only!
